Narrated by Della Reese with additional commentary by Harry Belafonte, this DVD celebrates the life and work of Donald McKayle, whose contributions as choreographer, dancer and teacher have enriched America's cultural heritage. The documentary includes excerpts from Rainbow Round My Shoulder, Heartbeats, Saturday's Child, District Storyville, They Called Her Moses, House of Tears, Minstrel Man and Libertango.

The DVD also includes two complete performances of Angelitos Negroes (with Marceline Freeman and Tamica Washington), unedited conversations between Della Reese and McKayle and an unedited interview with Harry Belafonte.
